Gulfstream G450

Few names in private aviation are as recognizable as Gulfstream. Part of General Dynamics, Gulfstream has been designing, developing, and manufacturing business aircraft since 1958. Of their line of business jets, which range from midsize to ultra-long-range heavy jets, the Gulfstream G450 lives up to the standards expected of a Gulfstream heavy jet. Originally developed from the G-III and G-IV, the G450 is an ultra-modern derivative that first flew in the mid-2000s. Since its inception, nearly 900 units of the G-IV/G450 family have been delivered. Everything about the G450, from its impressive performance to its luxurious interior and ramp appeal, live up to the Gulfstream name.

The G450’s interior is nothing short of impressive. Seating between 14 and 18 guests, depending on the configuration, the G450’s cabin is 45’1” long, 7’3” wide, and 6’2” tall for a cabin volume of 1,658 cubic feet. The Gulfstream G450 comes in a variety of seating layouts that include club seating, individual seats, and multi-person divans. The full-size galley is fully equipped for complete meal services and includes an oven, microwave, full-size sink with hot and cold water, and two coffee makers. Entertainment features include a CD/DVD player, two LCD screens, and individual headphone jacks at each seat. Many of the seats are on swivels and on longer flights, many of them are fully reclinable and can be converted into berths. The fully accessible luggage area at the back of the cabin includes 169 cubic feet of space. Also in the aft section are two fully enclosed lavatories – much needed for longer flights with many passengers – which include full-length closets that are large enough for coats and garment bags.

Ideal Routes

Owing to the G450’s incredible performance, it is able to comfortably fly routes between 4,000-5,000 miles. Long range flights such as New York to Moscow or Dallas to Honolulu are no match for the G450. At the same time, its high passenger capacity makes it a great charter aircraft for larger groups flying shorter domestic routes. Have a large group going on a ski trip to Aspen? No problem for the Gulfstream G450. Airports such as Key West, which have shorter runways, are also available for the G450, due to its top-rated runway performance. What’s more, is the G450 can cruise at 45,000 feet, which is well above nearly all of the weather and rough air seen at lower altitudes.
