Bombardier Challenger 605

The lineage of the long-range Challenger 605 business jet dates all the way back to 1975 when Bombardier, then-called Canadair, first started developing the LearStar 600. After the first set of business jets developed during the 60’s and 70’s, there was a need for a wide-cabin business jet. Since then, the Challenger series of business jets have become one of the world’s most successful. So much so, that it was even developed into the hugely successful Bombardier CRJ regional airliner. The Challenger 605 was first flown in 2006 and was introduced into passenger service during the same year. Along with an updated and modernized flight deck, the Challenger 605 also includes cabin improvements such as larger windows, new materials, and a quieter cabin.

When Bombardier was designing the Challenger 605, they rightfully chose to keep the ultra-wide cabin that has pleased private jet passengers for many years. Typically seating between 10-12 passengers, the stand-up cabin is wide enough to comfortably move about. The Challenger 605’s spacious cabin includes a combination of club seats, individual forward-facing seats, and a 3-4-person divan. All the seats are fully reclinable into births, which is perfect for overnight trips. At 28’2” long, 7” wide, and 6’1” tall, the Challenger 605’s stand-up cabin is ideal for long, transcontinental, and intercontinental trips. The larger windows bathe the cabin in natural light while also offering perfect portals for passengers’ viewing pleasure. Video monitors at the front and back of the cabin provide entertainment and a moving map while the fully equipped galley can provide full, multi-course meals. The aft section of the cabin has an enclosed lavatory that also gives access to the rear cargo area.

The Challenger 605’s range and performance are no less impressive than its passenger cabin. Able to fly 4,000 miles nonstop, the Challenger 605 is easily capable of intercontinental trips like Boston to Paris or New York to London. At the same time, the Challenger 605 is a popular charter aircraft for transcontinental trips like Miami to Seattle or mid-range flights such as Denver to Detroit.
